About Xítle

Xítle is a cone-shaped volcano in the Tlalpan area of southwestern Mexico City, rising about 300 meters above rounded foothills. Travellers visit to hike up to the crater rim, explore volcanic terrain, and view the surrounding landscape.

Getting There

From central Mexico City, the drive takes roughly 1 to 1.5 hours by car or taxi depending on traffic. You can also take the Metro to Universidad station in the south and transfer to a local bus or taxi toward the trailhead.

Time to Spend

Allow 2 to 3 hours on site. This provides sufficient time to hike up the trail, walk around the crater, and return.

When to Visit

Visit in the morning to avoid midday heat and afternoon thunderstorms, especially during the rainy summer months. Weekends bring more local hikers, while weekdays are quiet.
