This museum is located in the historic center of Mexico City, housed in the former residence of the Counts of Santiago de Calimaya. It is situated on the site where Hernán Cortés and Moctezuma II are traditionally said to have first met. Visitors go here to explore the city's urban evolution and social history through its architecture and archives.

Getting there from the city center is straightforward as the museum is located within the central district. It is a short walk of approximately 5 to 10 minutes from the Zócalo, the city's main square.
