Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
What It Is
The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a Catholic church in central Valletta, located inside the capital's UNESCO World Heritage Site. Destroyed during World War II and subsequently rebuilt, the building features a large dome that forms a prominent part of the harbour skyline. Visitors go to view the neoclassical stone exterior, the oval interior layout, and religious artworks.
Getting There
Located in the heart of Valletta, the site is accessible on foot from anywhere in the city centre. From the City Gate and main bus terminus, walk north along the pedestrian streets for approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
