Taipei 101

Taipei 101 is a 509-meter, 101-story skyscraper that was once the tallest building in the world. The main draw for visitors is the indoor observation deck, which gives panoramic views over Taipei and the surrounding mountains, along with a look at the building's large tuned mass damper suspended inside the tower.

Getting there

The building sits in the Xinyi district, one of Taipei's main commercial areas. From the city center it's easily reached by MRT (Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station on the Red Line), typically around 15-20 minutes from stations like Taipei Main Station.

How long to stay

Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours if you're mainly visiting the observation deck, including time in line for elevators. Add extra time if you also want to browse the mall at the building's base.

When to go

The observation deck can get crowded, especially on weekends and around sunset, when many visitors come for the changing light and evening skyline. Weekday mornings tend to be quieter. Clear days offer the best visibility, so it's worth checking the weather before going up.
