Paramaribo Zoo
Paramaribo Zoo
Established in 1972, this is the only zoo located in Paramaribo, Suriname. It serves as a facility for viewing various animal species and is situated in the Rainville area. Travelers visit this site to see local and exotic wildlife within the city limits.
Getting There
The zoo is located a short distance from the city center. Most visitors use taxis or ride-sharing services for transport. The trip typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Visit Duration
Allow approximately 2 to 3 hours to walk through the grounds and view the animal exhibits at a steady pace.
When to Visit
Visiting during the morning hours is generally preferred to avoid the midday heat. Like many public attractions, it can become more crowded during weekends and local public holidays.
Combining with Other Attractions
Because of its location, the zoo is situated directly next to the Cultuurtuin, allowing visitors to explore both sites in one trip. If you have more time, you can combine this visit with other landmarks in the city, including:
- Sint Alfonsuskerk (1.9km)
- Mosque Keizerstraat (2.1km)
- Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral (2.2km)
- Kong Ngie Tong Sang Sunday Market (2.2km)
