Zeynel Abidin Paşa Tekke
Zeynel Abidin Paşa Tekke
The Zeynel Abidin Paşa Tekke is a Sufi monastery and the only tekke located in Ohrid. Built in 1590, it served as a place of worship and spiritual retreat for the Bektashi order. Travelers visit this site to see its specific Ottoman-era religious architecture and the onsite mausoleum.
Getting There
The tekke is located within the historic old town of Ohrid. It is accessible on foot from the city center, typically requiring a 10 to 15-minute walk through the pedestrian streets and residential alleys of the old quarter.
Visit Duration
Most visitors spend approximately 30 to 60 minutes exploring the grounds and the interior of the structure.
When to Visit
Visiting during the morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat during the summer months. While Ohrid is a popular tourist destination, this site generally experiences fewer crowds than the main lakeside promenades.
Nearby Attractions
Due to its central location in the old town, the tekke can be combined with several other historic sites within short walking distances:
- Dormition of the Theotokos Kamensko Church (0.1km)
- Ali Pasha Mosque (0.1km)
- Clock Tower of Ohrid (0.1km)
