Lake Ohrid
Lake Ohrid straddles the border between North Macedonia and Albania, a deep, expansive lake reaching depths of up to 288 meters. It's a wonderful place to walk along the shore and take in the scenery.

Church of St. John at Kaneo
Church of St. John at Kaneo is a Macedonian Orthodox church perched on a cliff overlooking Lake Ohrid in Ohrid, North Macedonia. Believed to date from around the 13th century, it is also well known for the frescoes found inside its dome during restoration work in 1964.

Samuil's Fortress
This fortress in Ohrid's old town served as the capital of the First Bulgarian Empire in the early 11th century. After extensive restoration in 2003, it has become one of Ohrid's leading tourist attractions.

Saint Panteleimon
St. Clement and Pantheleimon Church is a historic Byzantine-style church believed to be where the Glagolitic alphabet, used to translate the Bible into Old Church Slavonic, was first taught. It is said to have been founded by Clement of Ohrid and stands in the Plaošnik area of Ohrid.

This ancient theatre in Ohrid, built around 200 BC, is North Macedonia's only Hellenistic-style theatre. Nestled between two hills, it enjoys a sheltered location that minimizes the effects of wind.

Plaošnik
Plaošnik is an archaeological site and place of pilgrimage located 250 meters south of Samuel's Fortress in Ohrid. Restoration work to revive its original appearance is underway, so visitors can also take in the atmosphere of an active excavation site.

This mansion in Ohrid is a historic building dating back to the 1860s. Now protected as a cultural heritage site and run as a museum, it offers a great look at the region's traditional residential architecture.
