This medieval stronghold is located on the shore of the Oslofjord. Originally constructed to defend the city and serve as a royal residence, it now functions as a museum and historical site. Visitors go here to walk along the defensive walls, explore the old fortifications, and view the waterfront and city skyline.
Getting There
The fortress is situated within walking distance of the city centre. From the Sentrum area, it takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes to reach the entrance on foot.
Time Requirement
Allow between 2 and 3 hours to walk the perimeter of the walls and visit the internal museum exhibits. Those primarily interested in the outdoor views may require less time.
