The Barcode Project

The Barcode Project is a cluster of high-rise commercial and residential buildings located on the former harbor site of Bjørvika. Visitors go here to see the area to observe the modern urban architecture and the distinctive skyline created by the varying heights and widths of the buildings, which resemble a barcode. The area serves as a hub for offices, shops, and restaurants.

Getting There

The site is located within walking distance of Oslo Central Station. From the city centre, it takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to reach the buildings on foot via the waterfront promenade.

Duration of Visit

Depending on whether you are visiting for a meal or simply to walk through the district and view the architecture, allow 1 to 2 hours.

When to Visit

The area is most active during weekday business hours due to the high concentration of offices. It is generally less crowded on weekends. Visiting during the summer months provides the most daylight for exploring the surrounding harbor area.

Nearby Attractions

Because of its central location in the Bjørvika district, this site can be combined with other nearby landmarks:

  • Munch Museum (0.3km)
  • Oslo Opera House (0.3km)
  • Grønland (0.5km)
  • Bjørvika (0.6km)
