Autumn (September to October)

Early autumn retains sea warmth with pleasant daytime temperatures around 24°C. University life resumes in October, restoring energy to city squares after the quiet late-summer weeks.

Winter (November to March)

Winters are cool, damp, and windy off the gulf. The major exception is Patras Carnival, which peaks before Clean Monday in February or March. The city fills completely, closing central streets to cars.

When to Visit

Best months: May and September offer the best balance of dry weather, open transit, and manageable walking conditions.

When to avoid: Skip the final weekend of Carnival unless you want street parties, as transport and lodging book out. Mid-August can be uncomfortably hot with many small shops closed.
