Tomb of the Roman Soldier

This site is one of the best-preserved tombs in Petra. It is characterized by a facade featuring carved figures positioned between columns. Visitors can explore the exterior carvings as well as the surrounding courtyard and internal chambers.

Getting There

The tomb is located within the main archaeological park of Petra. Access is via the pedestrian paths from the visitor center. Depending on your pace and the route taken through the Siq, it typically takes about 30 to 45 minutes to reach this specific area from the entrance.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes to examine the facade and walk through the interior chambers.

When to Visit

Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. This area can become crowded during peak tourist seasons, particularly in spring and autumn. To avoid the largest groups, visit shortly after the site opens.
