Ko Bon

Ko Bon is a small island located off the southern coast of Phuket. Travelers visit this location primarily for snorkeling and swimming in clear waters, as it is less developed than the main island's tourist hubs. It offers a natural environment for those seeking quiet coastal activities.

Getting There

Access to the island is by boat from the southern shores of Phuket. From Phuket Town, you must first travel south to the Rawai area by taxi or local transport, which typically takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. From the pier, a short boat trip is required to reach the island.

Duration of Visit

A half-day trip is generally sufficient to explore the island's perimeter and engage in water activities. Most visitors spend between 3 and 5 hours on the island before returning to the mainland.

When to Visit

The best time to visit is during the dry season, from November to April, when the seas are calmer and visibility for snorkeling is higher. It is advisable to arrive in the morning to avoid the midday heat. While smaller than main attractions, it can become crowded during peak holiday periods.

Nearby Attractions

Because of its location, this island can be combined with other southern Phuket sites:

  • Rawai (1.8km): The primary transit point and local village.
  • Phromthep Cape (2.9km): A well-known viewpoint on the mainland.
  • Ko Kaeo Yai (3.5km): Another nearby island for exploration.
  • Ko He (4.9km): A popular spot for snorkeling and beach activities.
