Ko Raya
Ko Raya
Ko Raya consists of a small group of two islands, Ko Racha Noi and Ko Racha Yai, located off the coast of Phuket. Travelers visit these islands primarily for nature-based activities, specifically snorkeling and swimming in the surrounding waters.
Getting There
Access to the islands is by boat from the Phuket coast. Depending on the departure point and the type of vessel used, such as a speedboat or a long-tail boat, the journey typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes from the mainland.
Duration of Visit
Most visitors spend a full day at the islands. This allows time for travel from Phuket, swimming, and exploring the beaches of both Ko Racha Yai and Ko Racha Noi.
When to Visit
The best time to visit is during the dry season, typically from November to April, when the seas are calmer. The islands can get crowded during peak tourist months and on weekends. Arriving early in the morning helps avoid the largest crowds.
Combining with Other Sites
Because these islands are part of a cluster, they are often visited together. You can easily combine a trip to Ko Racha Yai with a visit to Ko Racha Noi. If you have more time or a private charter, other nearby islands include:
- Ko He: 21.7km
- Ko Kaeo Yai: 22.4km
- Ko Bon: 23.3km
