Plumb Point Lighthouse

Located on the narrow Palisadoes peninsula in Portmore, this 19th-century lighthouse serves as a navigational aid for ships entering Kingston Harbour. Visitors go here to see the historic structure and the surrounding coastal landscape that connects Port Royal to the Jamaican mainland.

Getting There

The lighthouse is accessible via the Palisadoes strip. From the center of Kingston, you can reach the site by taxi or rental car. The drive typically takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions along the narrow peninsula road.

Visit Duration

Most visitors spend between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours at the site, which is sufficient time to view the tower and the harbor views.

Timing Your Visit

Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. The site is generally less crowded than the main tourist hubs in Kingston, though traffic on the Palisadoes strip can increase during peak commuting hours.
