Overview

The Cathedral of Quito is a historic Catholic cathedral located on the southwest side of Independence Square. Operating as a parish church since 1545, it is one of the most prominent religious buildings in Ecuador. Situated directly in the historic centre of Quito, the site is accessible on foot within 5 to 10 minutes from most points in the Old Town. Travellers arriving from northern districts can take a taxi or public transit, which takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.
