Sucre House

Located in the historic center of Quito, this museum is the former residence of Antonio José de Sucre, a key figure in the independence of Venezuela and Ecuador, and his wife, Mariana Carcelén. Visitors go here to view the domestic environment of the couple and explore the historical narrative of their lives through the house's preserved rooms and exhibits.

Getting There

The museum is situated within the old town, which serves as the city center. It is accessible on foot from the main plazas. Depending on your starting point within the historic district, the walk typically takes between 5 and 15 minutes.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the house and read the historical displays.

When to Visit

The museum is indoors, making it a viable option regardless of the weather. To avoid the largest groups of tourists, visiting during weekday mornings is generally quieter. Like many sites in the old town, it can become crowded during local holidays.
