El Panecillo
El Panecillo is a volcanic hill situated between the central and southern and central districts of Quito, reaching an elevation of 3,016 meters. Travelers visit this site for its vantage point over the city and to see the aluminum statue of the Virgin of El Panecillo located at the summit. Historically known as Yavirac, the site is believed to have housed a temple to the sun god prior to the Spanish conquest.
Getting There
The hill is accessible from the city centre via taxi or ride-sharing services, which is the most direct method of ascent. The trip typically takes 10 to 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions in the downtown area.

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to ascend to the summit, view the city layout from the lookout points, and visit the statue.
