Cayo Granma is a small island situated in the southern part of Santiago de Cuba Bay, positioned near the Morro Fortress where the bay meets the Caribbean Sea. Visitors go here to walk across the low-lying terrain and view the surrounding coastline and sea.

Getting There

The island is located outside the main city center. Access typically requires a taxi or local transport to the coast, followed by a short boat trip to reach the island. Depending on traffic and boat availability, the journey from the center takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

Because of its small size and limited infrastructure, most visitors spend between 1 and 2 hours exploring the island and taking in the views.

When to Visit

Visiting during the morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. The island is generally quiet, though it may see more visitors during national holidays or peak tourist seasons in Cuba.
