What It Is

Cerro Renca is a 905-meter-high hill with two peaks spanning the communes of Renca and Quilicura in northern Santiago. Visitors head to the area primarily for outdoor trail hiking and open views across the city basin and surrounding mountains.

Getting There

Located northwest of downtown Santiago, the base of the hill can be reached by car or taxi in roughly 20 to 30 minutes. Public transit buses connecting the city centre with Renca take approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

Time to Spend

Allow around 2 to 3 hours for a visit. This provides enough time to hike up to the higher viewpoints, rest, and complete the return walk down.

When to Go

Morning or late afternoon visits are best to avoid strong midday sun, especially during the dry summer season. Atmospheric clarity across the valley is generally sharpest after rainfall. The trails receive moderate local foot traffic on weekends, whereas weekdays are quiet.
