Sapporo Satoland

Sapporo Satoland

Sapporo Satoland is an amusement park located in Higashi-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaidō, Japan. Sapporo Satoland, which has an agricultural theme, was opened in 1995. Its official name is Sapporo Facility of Agricultural Experience and Interchange .

Sapporo Satoland

Sapporo Satoland is an agriculture-themed park in Higashi-ku, on the northeastern edge of the city. Rather than a botanical garden or a conventional amusement park, it's built around farm life — open fields, cycling paths, and rides and activities with a farming theme, aimed mainly at families with children. It's a place to spend an unhurried afternoon outdoors rather than to see a specific landmark.

Getting there

Satoland sits away from central Sapporo, and the most practical way to reach it is by car or taxi, since it isn't close to a subway line. Depending on traffic, expect roughly 30–40 minutes from downtown Sapporo (Odori/Sapporo Station area). Check current bus options before you go, as service to this area is limited compared with more central parks.

Time to allow

Two to three hours is enough to cover the grounds at a relaxed pace, longer if you're cycling the paths or letting kids work through the play areas.

When to go

This is an outdoor park, so it's best visited in the warmer months from spring through autumn; Hokkaido winters make the open fields and cycling paths far less usable. Weekends and school holidays bring more families and can mean queues for rides, so a weekday visit is more relaxed.

Combine it with

  • Moerenuma Park (1.3km) — very close by, and a natural pairing for a half-day of parks in this part of the city.
  • Atsubetsu River (3.6km) — a nearby riverside option if you want a shorter walk after Satoland.
  • Sapporo Beer Museum (6.5km) — a good indoor contrast if you'd like to end the day with something less outdoorsy.
