Unhyeongung

This site is the former residence of the Heungseon Daewongun, the father of King Gojong. It served as the place where Gojong spent his childhood and later became the center of political power while the Daewongun managed state affairs. Visitors go here to see traditional Joseon-era residential architecture and learn about the political dynamics of the late 19th century.

Located in the central district of Seoul, the palace is accessible via the city's subway system. From the city center, it typically takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on your starting point and the mode of transport used.
