Dubai Museum
Overview
Dubai Museum is housed inside Al Fahidi Fort, a structure built in 1787 that opened as a public museum in 1971. The exhibits display traditional Emirati lifestyle, archaeological finds, pearling history, and local trade before the region's urban expansion. Travellers visit to understand the historical context and heritage of the Emirates.
Getting There
Reaching the site from the city centre by road takes roughly 25 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Taxis and public transit routes connect directly to the historic area.
Time to Spend
Allow 1 to 2 hours to view the courtyard, defensive towers, and underground exhibition rooms.
When to Visit
The cooler winter months between November and March are best for walking. Arriving early in the morning or late in the afternoon helps avoid midday tour groups, as the indoor galleries can become crowded.
