Overview

The Church of St. Clement of Ohrid is the main cathedral of the Macedonian Orthodox Church and the largest church in central Skopje. Travellers visit to see its distinct modern domed architecture, characterized by interconnected concrete arches, as well as its spacious interior filled with detailed frescoes.

Getting There

From central Skopje, the cathedral is a 5- to 10-minute walk (about 500 meters) west of Macedonia Square along Boulevard Partizanski Odredi. Local buses and taxis also stop nearby.

Time to Spend

Allow 20 to 30 minutes to view the exterior design and look around the interior.

When to Visit

Mornings and early afternoons offer good daylight for viewing the painted domes. Weekdays are generally quiet, whereas Sunday mornings and Orthodox holidays draw larger crowds for services. Modest dress covering shoulders and knees is required.
