Castle Štafileo
Castle Štafileo
This 16th-century fortress is located on a coastal cliff overlooking the Adriatic Sea. It was originally constructed to protect the local population from Ottoman incursions. Visitors go here to view the historical fortifications and the surrounding sea views.
Getting There
The castle is located in the Kaštela region, west of Split city centre. It is accessible via local bus or taxi. The journey typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Visit Duration
Allow approximately 1 hour to explore the site and the immediate cliffside area.
When to Visit
The site is best visited during the spring or autumn to avoid the peak summer heat. Visiting during the early morning or late afternoon provides softer light for viewing the coast. Like many coastal sites in Croatia, it can become more crowded during the July and August holiday period.
