Kastellholmen is a small island in central Stockholm, connected by bridge to Skeppsholmen. It serves as a quiet destination for walking along the waterfront, featuring perimeter paths, historic brick buildings, and open views across the harbor toward Djurgården and Södermalm.

Getting There

From central Stockholm, walking across the bridges via Skeppsholmen takes about 20 to 25 minutes. Local buses also connect the city centre to Skeppsholmen, leaving a short walk across the connecting bridge to reach the island.

Time to Allow

Plan for 30 to 45 minutes. The island is compact, and a complete circuit along its paths can easily be done at a relaxed pace.

When to Visit

Late spring through early autumn offers the most comfortable weather for outdoor walking. Late afternoon and evening provide good lighting across the water. The area rarely gets crowded, making it a peaceful stop even during the peak summer travel season.
