Palais du Rhin

The Palais du Rhin is a 19th-century domed building located in the Neustadt district of Strasbourg. Originally constructed as the Kaiserpalast, it serves as a primary example of German architecture from that era. Visitors go here to view the exterior facade, the massive dome, and the surrounding gardens, and the former stable buildings.

Getting There

The building is located in the Neustadt district, just east of the historic city centre. Depending on your starting point in the centre, it is a short walk or a quick trip via the city's tram system, typically taking 10 to 15 minutes.

Time Allocation

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to view the architecture of the main building and walk through the adjacent gardens and stable areas.

When to Visit

The gardens are most accessible during the spring and summer months. Like many central landmarks in Strasbourg, the area can become crowded during peak tourist seasons and during public events held in the square. Visiting during weekday mornings generally avoids the largest crowds.
