Miramar Entertainment Park

Miramar Entertainment Park is a shopping mall in the Dazhi area of Zhongshan District, on the north side of Taipei. It's a standard mixed-use mall with retail stores, restaurants, and a cinema, and it's best known locally for the large Ferris wheel mounted on the building's exterior, which is visible from the surrounding streets. Travellers tend to go for the observation wheel and to combine a mall visit with a meal, rather than for unique shopping you can't find elsewhere in the city.

Getting there

From central Taipei (around Taipei Main Station or Zhongshan), the area is roughly a 20-30 minute trip by taxi or bus, since it sits outside the main MRT network in Dazhi. Checking a map app for the current bus route to Dazhi before heading out is worthwhile, as it's not directly on a metro line.

Time to allow

An hour or two covers a walk through the mall and a ride on the Ferris wheel. Add extra time if you plan to eat there or catch a film.

When to go

Evenings tend to draw more visitors, since the Ferris wheel is lit up after dark and pairs well with a night skyline view. Weekends and holidays bring larger crowds, particularly around the cinema and food areas.

Combine it with

  • National Palace Museum (2.3km) - the closest major sight, easily paired with a museum visit earlier or later in the day.
  • Hsing Tian Kong (3.2km) - a temple visit that works well as a contrasting stop.
  • Shilin Night Market (3.3km) - a natural follow-on if you're already out in the evening.
  • Taipei Fine Arts Museum (3.5km) - another cultural stop within a similar range.
