Overview

Al-Bahr Mosque is the oldest standing mosque in Jaffa, the historic port district of Tel Aviv. Located near the harbor, it preserves the architectural and seafaring history of the old port city. Travellers visit to see its traditional coastal stonework and its setting along the Mediterranean waterfront.

Getting There

From central Tel Aviv, the site is reachable by public bus in 20 to 30 minutes, or by walking south along the seaside promenade in 40 to 50 minutes. Taxis from the city centre typically take about 15 minutes depending on traffic.

Plan for 20 to 30 minutes. The building is relatively compact, making it a quick stop to view the exterior architecture and the surrounding port area.

When to Visit

Early morning and late afternoon are the best times to visit to avoid intense midday heat, particularly during summer. The surrounding alleys and promenade get crowded on weekends and holidays; weekday mornings are much quieter. Dress modestly when approaching the site.
