Hofvijver
Hofvijver
The Hofvijver is a small lake located in the center of The Hague. It is situated directly in front of the Binnenhof and the Mauritshuis. Visitors typically go here to walk along the water's edge and view the surrounding government buildings and the small island located within the lake.
Getting There
The lake is located in the heart of the city center. It is accessible on foot from most central hotels and transport hubs. Depending on your starting point within the center, it typically takes 5 to 15 minutes to reach the waterfront.
Time Requirement
Since this is an outdoor public space rather than a structured museum, visitors generally spend 30 to 60 minutes walking around the perimeter and taking photographs of the architecture.
When to Visit
The area is open and accessible throughout the year. It can become crowded during peak tourist seasons and during official government events. Early morning visits are generally quieter.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its central location, the lake can be easily combined with several nearby sites within walking distance:
- Torentje (0.1km)
- Gallery Prince Willem V (0.1km)
- Museum Bredius (0.1km)
- Buitenhof (0.2km)
