Mother Teresa Square

Overview

Mother Teresa Square is Tirana's second-largest square, named after the Albanian-born Catholic nun and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. It is an open paved space flanked by university buildings and cultural institutions. Travellers visit primarily as part of a walking route through the city center or while heading toward adjacent southern districts.

Getting There

From the city center around Skanderbeg Square, walk directly south down Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard. The walk takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes. City buses and taxis also operate regularly along this main corridor.

Time to Allow

Allow 15 to 30 minutes to view the surrounding architecture, walk across the plaza, and take photos.

When to Visit

Late afternoon or early evening is preferable, particularly in summer when the unshaded surface gets hot during midday. The area sees regular pedestrian activity from students and locals in the evening, but the wide layout means it rarely feels crowded.
