Bender Fortress

This 15th-century fortress stands on the right bank of the Dniester River, first built of earth and timber under Moldavia's Stephen the Great. It was later conquered by Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, who rebuilt it in stone on a larger scale.
