Tyholttårnet
Overview
Tyholttårnet is a telecommunications tower located on the Tyholt hill in Trondheim. Visitors head there for the panoramic observation deck overlooking the city and fjord, or to visit the revolving restaurant situated 74 meters up, which completes one rotation per hour.
Getting There
From central Trondheim, local city buses run regularly toward Tyholt, taking roughly 15 to 20 minutes. Walking uphill from downtown takes around 35 to 45 minutes, while a taxi or car drive takes about 10 minutes.
Time to Allow
Allow 30 to 45 minutes if you are only stopping by the observation deck. If dining at the revolving restaurant, allocate at least 1 to 1.5 hours to experience a complete turn.
When to Go
Clear conditions are important; low clouds or rain will obscure the view across the region. The restaurant area can get crowded during weekend meal times, so plan ahead if you intend to eat. Visiting during late afternoon or sunset provides views in both daylight and evening light.
