Overview
Conception Island is an uninhabited island located two kilometres west of Mahé. Formerly a coconut plantation, it provides quiet coastal terrain and natural island scenery for travellers seeking a low-key offshore destination.
Getting There
From central Victoria, drive across to Mahé's west coast, which takes around 30 to 40 minutes. From there, hire a local boat charter to complete the short crossing in roughly 10 to 15 minutes.
Recommended Time
Allow 2 to 3 hours on the island for walking along the coast and relaxing, or half a day if combined with a wider boat excursion.
When to Visit
Morning trips are ideal for calmer water and easier boat transfers. The island rarely gets crowded due to limited access by private boat. Avoid visiting during rough seas or strong winds when boat landings are unsafe.
