Saint Joseph's Cathedral

Located on Shanghai Road, this Catholic cathedral was completed in 1876. It serves as a religious site and an architectural example of the city's colonial-era history. Visitors go here to observe the cathedral's structure and attend Mass, which has been held regularly since the site reopened in 1980.

Getting There

The cathedral is situated in the Hankou district. From the city centre, it is accessible via the Wuhan Metro or by taxi. Depending on your starting point and traffic conditions, the journey typically takes 20 to 40 minutes.

Allow approximately 45 to 90 minutes to walk around the grounds and view the interior of the building.

When to Visit

The site can get crowded during weekends and religious holidays. To avoid the largest crowds, visit on a weekday morning. All seasons are suitable for a visit, though weather conditions in Wuhan can be extreme in mid-summer and winter.
