Zagreb Botanical Garden

The Zagreb Botanical Garden is a scientific and public space maintained by the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Science. Established in 1891, it houses approximately 10,000 plant species, including a variety of aquatic plants located in its ponds. Visitors go here to walk through a curated collection of flora in a quiet environment within the city center.

Getting There

The garden is located in the central part of Zagreb. Depending on your starting point in the city center, it is accessible via a short walk or local public transport. Most visitors can reach the entrance within 10 to 15 minutes from the main central hubs.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the grounds and view the different plant collections and ponds at a steady pace.

When to Visit

The garden is best visited during the spring and summer months when the plant life is in full bloom. Visiting during weekday mornings typically avoids the larger crowds that gather during weekends.

  • Ethnographic Museum of Zagreb: 0.4km
  • Republic of Croatia Square: 0.5km
