Chitralada-Palast

Chitralada Royal Villa

Chitralada-Palast

Der Chitralada-Palast ist eine Palastanlage in der thailändischen Hauptstadt Bangkok. Er ist zugleich die Residenz von Königinmutter Sirikit in der thailändischen Hauptstadt.

Chitralada Royal Villa

Chitralada Royal Villa sits within the Dusit Palace complex and was the residence of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit. Because it remains a working royal property, ordinary visitors do not tour the villa itself — the interest for travellers is largely in seeing the grounds from outside, understanding the site's role in modern Thai royal history, and its position as part of the wider Dusit Palace area. The compound is surrounded by a moat and guarded, and it also contains Chitralada School, originally set up for children of royal family members and palace staff.

Getting there

From central Bangkok (Sukhumvit or Silom), expect around 30-40 minutes by taxi depending on traffic, or a combination of BTS/MRT plus a short taxi or motorbike taxi, since no rail line runs directly to the site. It sits within walking distance of other Dusit-area attractions.

How long to spend

Since the villa is not open for interior visits, most travellers only pass by or view it briefly from outside while exploring the Dusit Palace area — allow perhaps 15-20 minutes if stopping specifically here.

When to go

Mornings tend to be cooler for walking around this part of Dusit, and traffic into the area is lighter than in the afternoon. As this is an active royal residence, security presence is normal and access to the grounds themselves is restricted.

Combine with

  • Dusit Zoo (0.6km) - the closest stop, easily paired on the same walk.
  • Dusit Palace (1km) - the broader palace complex this villa belongs to.
  • Phaya Thai Palace (1.3km) - another royal-era building worth combining into a Dusit-area itinerary.
  • Victory Monument (2km) - useful as a transport hub to continue on by BTS afterward.
