Ton Son Mosque
The Ton Son Mosque is a historic Sunni mosque, located on the left bank of Khlong Bangkok Yai canal, Wat Arun Subdistrict, Bangkok Yai District of Bangkok, in Thonburi, Thailand. The mosque is situated opposite the Wat Moli Lokayaram temple, and across the canal is Bang Luang Mosque.
What it is
Ton Son Mosque is a Sunni mosque on the west bank of Khlong Bangkok Yai, in the Thonburi area of the city. It's one of the older Muslim places of worship in Bangkok, part of a small cluster of communities that settled along the canal generations ago. Visitors typically come for the setting rather than any single standout feature: the canal-side location, the older wooden and masonry structures, and the sense of a quiet, working religious community rather than a tourist site. It's worth visiting alongside Bang Luang Mosque directly across the water to see how the two relate.
Getting there
From the historic centre of Bangkok, the mosque sits across the Chao Phraya's western canal network, so a taxi or ride-hailing app is usually the simplest option, taking roughly 15-20 minutes from the Grand Palace area depending on traffic. Longtail boat or canal ferry along Khlong Bangkok Yai is another way in, and fits the neighbourhood's character better than a road approach. There is no BTS or MRT station within easy walking distance.
Time to allow
Twenty to thirty minutes is enough to see the mosque itself and the immediate canal-side surroundings, more if you walk further along the waterway or into the neighbouring lanes.
When to go
This is a working place of worship in a residential area, not a major tourist stop, so it rarely feels crowded. Dress modestly, as at any mosque. Mornings or late afternoon avoid the strongest heat for the walk along the canal.

Bang Luang Mosque is just 0.2km away across the canal and pairs naturally with a visit here. The Museum of Siam is about 0.7km off, and Rattanakosin Island and the Grand Palace are both a little over 1km away, making it possible to fold this stop into a broader walk through Bangkok's old town.
