Miyanomori International Museum of Art, Sapporo
미야노모리 미술관(일본어: 宮の森美術館 미야노모리비쥬쓰칸[*])은 홋카이도 삿포로시 주오구에 위치한 미술관이다.
What it is
The Miyanomori Art Museum was a contemporary art museum in Sapporo that opened in April 2006. It has since closed, so it is no longer possible to visit — check current status before planning a trip around it, as the building or grounds may since have been repurposed.

Because the museum is no longer operating, travellers in this part of Sapporo are better off focusing on what's still open nearby. The area around Maruyama is one of the city's better clusters for a half-day out, combining art, nature and a major shrine within easy walking distance of each other.
- Hongō Shin Memorial Museum of Sculpture (0.5km) – a short walk away, useful as a substitute for an art-focused stop.
- Hokkaidō Jingū (0.5km) – a major Shinto shrine set in wooded grounds, also about a five-to-ten-minute walk.
- Sapporo Maruyama Zoo (0.8km) – roughly a ten-minute walk, a good option if travelling with children.
- Maruyama Park (0.9km) – adjoining forest and park space, pleasant for a walk, especially during cherry blossom season.
Practical notes
This cluster of sights sits a short subway or taxi ride from central Sapporo, roughly 15–20 minutes depending on traffic and starting point. If arriving from Shin-Chitose Airport (CTS), allow around an hour to reach this part of the city by train and subway. Given the museum's closure, plan your time around the shrine, park and zoo instead, and treat any remaining museum building only as something to see from the outside if you happen to pass it.
