Lumphini Park
ルンピニー公園 は、タイ王国のバンコク・パトゥムワン区にある公園である。1920年代のラーマ6世統治時代に建設され、南西の入り口には彼の銅像が立っている。
What it is
Lumphini Park is a large green space in central Bangkok, built around an artificial lake with paddle and rowboat rentals, shaded lawns, playgrounds, and open-air exercise areas. It's one of the few places downtown to walk under trees rather than concrete, and locals use it heavily for morning exercise, tai chi groups, and evening jogging on the paths that ring the park.
Getting there
The park sits near the Silom/Sathorn business district. The easiest access is by BTS Skytrain to Sala Daeng station or MRT to Silom or Lumphini stations, both of which exit close to the park's edges. From most central Bangkok hotels this is a 15-30 minute ride by BTS/MRT or taxi.
How much time to allow
An hour or two is enough for a walk around the lake and a look at the grounds. Joggers or anyone renting a boat should plan for closer to two to three hours.
When to go
Early morning is the most atmospheric time, when the air is cooler and the park is full of people exercising. Midday sun can be intense with limited shade over parts of the paths, so afternoons are less comfortable for walking. Weekday evenings after work also draw large crowds of joggers and exercisers, so the paths can feel busy then.
Combining with nearby sights
- Erawan Shrine (1.5km) — close enough to combine as a short stop before or after the park.
- Benjakitti Park (1.8km) — another green space nearby if you want more time outdoors.
- Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (2.1km) — a change of pace with indoor galleries.
- Sri Maha Mariamman Temple (2.2km) — a Hindu temple that pairs well with a Silom-area walk.
