National Human Rights Museum
国家人権博物館（こっかじんけんはくぶつかん）は中華民国（台湾）に設立された国家人権博物館。主な業務である展示、教育、公共サービスに加えて、台北市景美と台東県緑島の2カ所にある不義遺跡を「白色テロ記念園区」の名称とし、その管理センターの役割を担っている。

This museum occupies the former Jingmei Human Rights Culture Park, a detention and interrogation site used during Taiwan's martial law period (1949-1987). Visitors walk through original cell blocks, courtrooms, and dormitories, with exhibits documenting the White Terror era through personal testimonies, case files, and artifacts. It's a place for understanding a specific and difficult chapter of Taiwanese history rather than a conventional art or history museum. A second site on Green Island preserves a former prison connected to the same period.
Getting there
The New Taipei City site, in Xindian District, is reachable from central Taipei by MRT to Xiaobitan or Qizhang stations followed by a short bus or taxi ride, or by taxi directly from downtown, which takes roughly 30-40 minutes depending on traffic and starting point.
Time to allow
Plan for around 1.5 to 2.5 hours to walk through the preserved buildings and main exhibition halls at a reasonable pace.
When to go
Weekday mornings tend to be quieter, since school groups and larger visitor numbers are more common on weekends. The site involves walking between outdoor and indoor spaces, so checking the weather forecast is worthwhile.
Combine it with
- The Museum of Drinking Water (2.8km) is the closest option and can be paired on the same outing.
- Taipei Cultural Mosque (3.5km) and Taipei Grand Mosque (4.5km) are both within a similar range if extending the day further into the city.
- Daan Forest Park (4.7km) works well as a relaxed stop afterward.
Travelers flying in or out use Taoyuan International Airport (TPE).
