ムラーノ (Murano) は、イタリア北東部ヴェネツィア本島の北東、マラーニ (Marani) 運河に沿って位置する島である。

Murano is a small cluster of islands in the Venetian Lagoon, joined by bridges and cut through by canals in a layout that echoes central Venice on a smaller, quieter scale. It's been a centre of glassmaking for centuries, and that's the main reason to visit: workshops and showrooms along the Fondamenta dei Vetrai sell everything from tourist trinkets to serious art glass, and several studios let you watch glassblowing demonstrations. Beyond the glass, it's simply a pleasant, low-key lagoon settlement to walk around, with a working-town feel that's less crowded than Venice's core sestieri.
Getting there
From central Venice, the vaporetto (waterbus) is the way to go — lines running from Fondamente Nove take roughly 10-15 minutes, while services from near San Marco or the train station take closer to 30-45 minutes depending on the route and stops.
How much time to allow
A couple of hours is enough to walk the main canal-side streets and browse a few glass showrooms. If you want to see a glassblowing demonstration or visit the glass museum, allow half a day.
When to go
Mornings tend to be calmer, before day-trip groups arrive by boat around midday. The main thoroughfares near the vaporetto stops and the busiest showrooms can get congested in peak season (summer, and around major Venice events), so visiting outside those windows makes for easier wandering.

- San Michele (1.3km) — Venice's cemetery island, easily paired on the same vaporetto route.
- Madonna dell'Orto (2.1km) — a church back in Venice's Cannaregio district.
- Santi Giovanni e Paolo (2.2km) — a large Gothic church in Castello, close to Madonna dell'Orto.
- San Francesco della Vigna (2.2km) — another Castello church worth combining with the two above.
