Overview

Khamis Mosque is considered the oldest Islamic structure in Bahrain, with foundations dating back to the Umayyad era. The site features the remains of an ancient prayer hall and two distinct minarets built during later historical periods. Visitors go primarily to observe the early Islamic archaeological ruins and architectural foundations.

Getting There

Located near the Sheikh Salman Highway, the site is reached by taxi or private car from the city centre in roughly 15 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic.

Visiting Time

Plan to spend approximately 30 to 45 minutes on site to walk through the ruins and view the twin minarets.

When to Visit

The cooler months from November to March provide the most comfortable weather for an outdoor visit. During the day, early morning or late afternoon hours are best for avoiding high temperatures. The location rarely experiences heavy crowds.
