Al-Muharraq
Muharraq is a historic city on Muharraq Island in Bahrain, and was the country's capital until 1923. It's a great base for exploring sites like Bahrain Fort and the World Trade Center, along with neighboring Manama, the current capital.

Heritage & monuments
Qal’at al Bahrain
Bahrain Fort is an archaeological site where layers of ruins dating back to before the common era remain, making it regarded as the oldest fort in the Persian Gulf. Once the center of the ancient Dilmun civilization, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.

Al Fateh Grand Mosque
This grand mosque, one of Bahrain's landmarks, can hold more than 7,000 worshippers at once. Built in 1987, it later also became home to the National Library.
