About the Area

Amwaj Islands is a group of man-made islands situated off the north coast of Muharraq Island, Bahrain. Built around reclaimed lagoons, the area features residential districts, marinas, and waterfront promenades. Visitors come here primarily to take a relaxed stroll along the shore, view the boats, and dine by the water.

Getting There

The islands are connected to the mainland by road. Driving from central Al-Muharraq or downtown Manama takes roughly 15 to 25 minutes by taxi or car. The area is also close to Bahrain International Airport (BAH), which is about a 10- to 15-minute drive away.

Suggested Duration

Set aside 1 to 2 hours to walk along the waterfront, or up to 3 hours if you plan to eat at one of the seaside cafes or restaurants.

When to Visit

The cooler winter months from November through March are best for walking outside. During the hot summer, early morning or after sunset is preferable. Expect larger crowds on weekend evenings, when residents and tourists gather around the marina.

Nearby Attractions

You can pair a visit here with several nearby sites on Muharraq:
