Overview

Krol Ko is a Buddhist temple in the Angkor archaeological area, constructed in the Bayon style during the reign of King Jayavarman VII. The layout features a single central tower, an enclosing wall, and a moat. Travelers visit to study Angkorian temple architecture and stone carvings up close in an accessible, low-density setting.

Getting There

Located roughly 15 kilometers north of downtown Siem Reap, the site is reachable by tuk-tuk, car, or bicycle. The drive from the city center takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes along the Grand Circuit.

Time to Spend

Plan to spend 20 to 40 minutes on site. Because the footprint is small, this provides sufficient time to walk the perimeter and view the remaining architectural details.

When to Visit

Visiting in the early morning or late afternoon avoids mid-day heat and provides better lighting for viewing the ruins. The dry season from November to April offers firm ground, while the rainy season can create muddy terrain around the moat. The temple sees light visitor traffic and rarely becomes crowded.
