Frigate Bay
Frigate Bay
Frigate Bay consists of two bays located at the northern end of the isthmus that connects the peninsula to the main island of Saint Kitts. It is a coastal area used primarily for beach activities and relaxation due to its proximity to the capital, Basseterre.
Getting There
The area is located a short distance from the center of Basseterre. Visitors can reach the bays via taxi or rental car. The drive typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Duration of Visit
Depending on the intended activity, visitors generally spend between three to six hours here. This allows enough time for swimming, sunbathing, or visiting the local beach establishments.
When to Visit
The bays are accessible year-round. To avoid the largest crowds, visiting during the weekday mornings is recommended. The area can become crowded during peak tourist seasons and on weekends when local residents visit the beaches.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its location on the peninsula, the area can be combined with other nearby coastal spots and landmarks:
- South Friar's Bay: 1.8km
- North Friar's Bay: 2.6km
- St. George's Anglican Church: 5km
