South Friar's Bay

South Friar's Bay is a beach located on the narrow isthmus that connects the southeastern peninsula to the main island of Saint Kitts. Because the land here is so thin, the opposite coast is less than a kilometer away, allowing visitors to access two different seas within a short walking distance.

Getting There

The beach is located southeast of Basseterre. Travelers can reach the area via taxi or rental car. The drive from the city center typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Duration of Visit

Depending on whether you intend to swim or simply walk the coastline, allow 2 to 4 hours to spend at the beach. This provides enough time to explore the immediate shoreline and the narrow strip of land separating the two coasts.

When to Visit

The beach is accessible year-round. To avoid the peak heat of the day, morning or late afternoon visits are recommended. Like many popular coastal spots in the Caribbean, it can become crowded during the winter tourist season and on cruise ship docking days.
