Troldhaugen

Troldhaugen is the former residence of the composer Edvard Grieg and his wife, now operating as a museum. Visitors go here can explore the family home, the small composer's hut where Grieg wrote his music, and the couple's gravesite on the grounds.

Getting There

The site is located outside the city centre of Bergen. It is accessible via local bus or taxi. The journey typically takes around 20 to 30 minutes depending on the mode of transport and traffic conditions.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 2 to 3 hours to tour the main house, visit the composing hut, and walk through the surrounding gardens.

When to Visit

The grounds are accessible throughout the year, though the gardens are most active during the summer months. Like many popular sites in Bergen, it can get crowded during the peak tourist season. Arriving early in the day generally helps avoid the largest groups.
