About the Site

Isteza madrasa is a two-story Islamic school located in the old town of Bukhara and listed as a national cultural heritage site. It is known as the smallest madrasa in Central Asia. Travelers visit to see its unusually compact architectural scale compared to the city's larger educational complexes.

Getting There

Set within the historic center of Bukhara, the building is reachable on foot in about 3 to 5 minutes from the central old town. From Bukhara International Airport (BHK), driving by taxi to the edge of the historic quarter takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

Given the modest size of the structure, allocate roughly 15 to 30 minutes for a visit.

When to Visit

Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) offer the most comfortable weather for walking tours. In summer, visit in the morning or late afternoon to avoid peak heat. The building rarely sees large crowds.
