Bakoven is a small residential neighborhood on Cape Town's Atlantic coast, located just south of Camps Bay. Travelers visit for a quiet walk along the coast to take in the ocean and mountain scenery away from busy commercial areas.

Getting There

The drive from Cape Town city centre takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes via Victoria Road. Local public transit, including the MyCiTi bus service, also runs directly through the area.

Plan for 45 minutes to an hour, which is sufficient time to explore the residential lanes and rocky shoreline.

When to Visit

Late afternoon is ideal for watching the sunset over the Atlantic. Summer brings warm, dry conditions, but street parking is very limited and fills up quickly on weekends. The area is generally calm, though small beach spots can get crowded during peak holiday periods.
